Great British Entrepreneur Awards win for Lobster Pod.

Our Founder and Sea-E-O, Errin Todd, was a finalist in three categories at the recent Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

GBEA-Silver-Winner-300x119The cream of British business were represented in 10 categories at the Awards which were organised by Natwest.  The final ceremony was held in London.  All sizes of business from micro start-up to large enterprises were finalists.  Errin was a finalist in the Food and Drink, Start-Up and Manufacturing categories.  Lobster Pod decided to enter the awards to see how we compared to other British businesses on a national level. The judging panel was diverse including bankers, accountants, entrepreneurs and business advisers.

We could not attend the event (too busy manufacturing Pods!) but our friends Carol Smillie, founder of Diary Doll and Morag Pavich from Mo’s Cookie Dough were also finalists and agreed to represent us if we were lucky to win.  On the night we were delighted when we saw on twitter that we were silver winners of not one but two awards!

Errin Todd is the Great British Entrepreneur Awards Silver winner of Best Start-Up Entrepreneur and Silver Winner of Best Manufacturing Entrepreneur.

We are over the moon to be the 2nd best start-up company and manufacturers in the UK in our first year.  As this is a nationwide award this really means a lot to our young team.

Congratulations to manufacturing award winner Steve Lindsey @lontrauk and start-up winner Nicholas Walters @hopstertv and Carol Smillie and Jackie Dalziel (our E-Spark friends) and all of the Great British Entrepreneur winners and finalists.

Our customers and supporters gave us glowing testimonials as part of the application and we’ll share some of these soon.

Our future plans include continuing to develop the Lobster Pod further.  We are working on a new version made out of polyproplylene which is lighter making it more suitable for the transport vivier Pods.  Compared to a traditional viver system the Lobster Pod live shellfish transport system is much lighter saving nearly £500 in fuel between Glasgow and Barcelona and saving 670Kg of carbon emissions.  The virgin polypropylene is also 100% recyclable improving our environmental credentials.  Good for your shellfish and the environment!
