Bivalve Depuration Systems are used to purify Mussels, Oysters, Clams, Scallops, Cockles and Razors.

Todd Fish have developed their best ever Purification System.

Todd Fisheries Technology

Todd Fish Depuration System Self Cleaning Base

Prior to human consumption all bivalves in the UK from less than A class waters must be purified.  Our systems are based on the Seafish Small Scale Shallow Tank Standard Depuration System.  We have developed our system to be easy to use, clean and maintain.  As a family run company we pride ourselves on offering fantastic support to our customers especially during the challenge test.

The main advantage of a Todd Fish depuration system is our unique self-cleaning, self-draining base.  Most other tanks have a concave base and to fully drain and clean out the sediment from the tank they need to be lifted onto their side.  The bottom trays holding the shellfish are also on the base and may not be fully purified and water flow is reduced.  Our base has runners which hold the trays off the base allowing optimum water flow. The base is angled like a bath to enable the water to flow to the central drain at one end.

Out tanks are made from insulated GRP giving a smooth finish.  The corners are rounded and there are no nooks and crannies for dirt to hide. The insulation improves temperature control although we can add a seawater chiller if needed.  Your Environmental Health Officer can reduce the capacity of a system without a chiller citing the inability to control temperature.

The recirculation pump is energy efficient.  We include a UV Sterilizer rated above the minimum requirement e.g. a 55 watt UV on our 90Kg capacity system (minimum requirement 25 watt).  Unlike other available systems we include a flowmeter (essential to ensure optimum flow rates and effective purification), hour-run meter (useful for keeping track of your UV bulb lifespan of 4000 hours) and the trays for the bivalves.

We use ABS industrial pipe as it is more robust than PVC which can become brittle at low temperatures and can leech plasticisers into your system.  We use stainless steel marine grade 316.  We ensure all of our fixings are safe for shellfish and seawater safe.

We believe that you get what you pay for.  Our depuration systems are manufactured in-house in Dalgety Bay in Fife.  We use the best quality materials and parts.  We include everything you need to get started in a complete turn-key system.  We provide an operation handbook and are always available for advice.
