A System Built for Real-World Shellfish Operations
At Todd Fish Tech, we design shellfish holding systems that support the way fishermen and fish merchants actually work. This latest Crab Pod is a bespoke build at four metres long by two metres wide, engineered to match a customer’s individual space and operational needs. For comparison, our standard Crab Pods are typically five metres long by two metres wide. Seeing the dimensions in context helps customers understand how much shellfish they can hold comfortably and efficiently.
Watch the YouTube video above to see the scale of the system (bearing in mind our Sea-E-O, Errin is only 5′ 1″ tall!).
Working Space Versus Filtration Space
This tank includes three metres by two metres of dedicated shellfish holding area, with the final metre used for the filtration system. It is this balance—working space for shellfish and technical space for clean, oxygen-rich water—that gives the Crab Pod its reliability. Every design detail is intentional, ensuring animals receive consistent water movement, excellent aeration and stable conditions.
Why Capacity Matters for Profit and Supply Management
Many fishermen and fish merchants rely on holding systems to maintain a steady supply for their customers or to store shellfish until market values peak. Around Christmas, prices can double or even quadruple, making reliable storage a critical commercial advantage. The scale and internal layout of a Crab Pod allow operators to store significant volumes safely, helping them maximise value and secure higher margins.
Built for Your Business, Your Space, Your Catch
Because no two operations are identical, every Crab Pod can be tailored in length, width, and internal design. Whether you need a compact tank for a small landing site or a large multi-tank setup for full-scale commercial throughput, we work with you to design a system that fits, functions and performs exactly as required.
