This week marks the highlight of the global seafood calendar – the Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global in Brussels.

With over 25,000 visitors from all over the world it is a major event.  The Seafood Excellence Global Awards are also held at the Expo and this year’s top winners are Kagerer & Co. from Munich in Germany and Freshpack from Saint Martin les Boulogne in France.

In the Seafood Expo each country has a stand and they support seafood companies to launch and sell their seafood products on a world stage.  The Scotland stand is themed on Land of Food and Drink.  Scotland Food and Drink members get discounts on stand prices.  Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International organise the stand and provide support including help with press and PR, a hospitality area, seafood bar and a reception for exhibitors and their guests.  It is a great opportunity for Scottish seafood companies to win new business.  British seafood is world class.  We are so proud of our industry especially the creel fishermen and shellfish merchants who we work with and alongside.

Alongside this exhibition is the Seafood Processing Global Expo.

All the kit you could ever imagine for seafood processing in one place.  This exhibition does not have pavilion set by nationality and all of the equipment is spread over several huge buildings.

We would love to exhibit our products at the Seafood Expo BUT as a shellfish system manufacturer we fall between both Expo’s.  We are not permitted to exhibit in the Seafood Expo as we are not a food producer and we are not processing equipment either.

This is a real pity as our products are used throughout the supply chain to hatch, store and transport shellfish.  We can help to improve survival rates, quality of the shellfish and improve welfare conditions for the live animals.  Our systems are more energy efficient, produce less waste and our vivier Lobster Pod saves fuel and carbon emissions.  We are sure potential customers outside of the UK would love to know about our product.  We have real potential to export our products globally.

So, we are sending our #BestFishes to all of the exhibitors and visitors

and perhaps if you find yourself in Scotland sometime you can come and visit our showroom or visit us at the International Skipper Expo in Aberdeen on May 27th – 28th 2016. There are over 150+ exhibitors already booked ranging from lobster pot suppliers to boat manufacturers.  We’d love to see you there.
